Sorry,I cant agree with you Grampie. Just because you do research and try, doesnt make you a thru hiker. But walking 2168.8 miles from Georgia to Maine SoBo or NoBo does. Anything else is just that, anything else.I think limitations on time or money would be part of the planning. And I dont know what proper gear is. To me that would be different for each hiker. Uhps on the sun position!!! Right on Virginian! If you have to drag, crawl, or run the 2168.8 miles. Thru-hiker is past tense. The word “Thru” means complete. If you are not through, you are not “thru.” (Pardon my Yogi Berra moment) P.S. Virginian, we have a good picture of you at Katahdin campgroud. Let me know if you would like a copy.

whats a thru-hiker? WOW! the answers get pretty deep here…as in hip-waders needed with some of the answers!
hehehehe! I’ve always thought of a thru-hiker as one who completes His/Her hike…(& all that implies)to their expectations.

as for “Hike Naked Day” June 21st, Summer Solstice June 21st & Summer begins June 21st!

and by the way: Feb 20th is “Hoodie Hoo Day” (northern hemisphere)

see you Up the Trail…
