Camping on Trail

Having vented my anger, I have to admit that MV is right about the slip n fall being most likely way to die… there were numerous instances on all my trails when a high snow/ice traverse; or river crossing; or even climbing up a steep cliff that should never have been considered as trail in any way brought me to the brink!!! Having said that, THERE BE DRAGONS!!! I was watching “Python Hunters” the reality show, & they caught some green Iguanas & (what I think they said were) Bearded Dragons that were eating the Iguana eggs… so there be dragons on the Florida trail, but if it’s cold winter weather, they probly won’t be able to move; & if it’s hot, you can probably feed em doritos like we used to do at Guantanamo Bay (junk food not recommended for reptiles! the mgmt.)

Sorry you can’t handle being proven a liar. Vent all you want, but maybe stop posting advice when it’s been shown you’re posting b.s.

It doesn’t really matter what you’ve hiked if you’re just going to make up crap about the hike afterwards.

Forgive the nonsensical grammar and writing. I’m just glad i’m going hiking tomorrow. No more internet for me for 3 weeks!

Perhaps some overly emotional hikers should check into a sanitarium; if the trail doesn’t cure their need to be the rightest & bestest & judge/jury/executioner. Unless one was on the PCT with me in /93, then they cannot call me a liar; nor can they know what I saw or didn’t see… Perhaps MV should admit he was wrong about there being Copperheads East of the original 13 colonies!!

Gingerbreadman is a lunatic. He’s even more crazy in person than he appears to be here on this forum. Don’t pay any attention to anything he says/writes.

Sorry for the typo… I meant West of the Mississippi… (according to Cordon, they can’t be in Texas or New Mexico, where the Pecos River is & thus the Trans-Pecos Copperhead). In the gospel according to St. Mark : you can’t just be wrong, you have to be a liar. I would rather be “crazy” than a Nattering Nabob Knowitall of Negativity. I think all the folks I have provided care packages to & trail work for would beg to differ. The most important thing to have on the PCT or any other trail is a sense of humor… this is sorely lacking among many as you have seen above! I have hiked with several whiny, batchin, & moanin criticizers in my day. Their pack, tent, food, hiking pole(s), slpg bag, & hiking style, & knowledge of the flora/fauna is so much better than yours that they just have to spend all their time criticizing & correcting you instead of just hiking their own hike & having fun despite the heat/rain/etc…
Here is a learning opportunity: Guino has a sense of humor: Thus, though we have probly never met, I can almost categorically state that Guino would be more fun to hike with than some of the above “Lords of the Trail Dance”. Far be it from me to call anyone a liar, but MV said there can’t possibly be dragons on the trail & if you watch “Python Hunters” you will see them catching (Bearded) Dragons in the vicinity of the (Florida) trail… if my recall is accurate, because I wasn’t taking notes (you have to do a disclaimer from now on in case you misremember something). If I am correct, then MV has called himself a liar & you may need dragon spray on the FT (probly you can just use your alligator /crocodile spray, available in every swamp grocery!)

Agkistrodon contortrix pictigaster (Trans Pecos Copperhead) is an endangered species that occurs in the Davis Mountains of west Texas. It is extremely rare and secretive. It DOES NOT occur in California where you claimed that they were hanging out on the PCT. The idea that someone caught some then hiked out into the desert and released them is ludicrous.

Here is a link to a map showing all the states where Copperheads exist.

None in California. I’ll bet gingerbreadman is a big phony and hasn’t done any of the many hikes he claims to have done.

He’s not a phony. He’s just differently abled. Some folks are tone deaf when it comes to online interaction. Can’t be helped. You can call 'em out, but they tend to get defensive. They’re not seeing what you see, never have and never will. It’s sorta like dealing with a troll who doesn’t know he’s a troll. What to do? Kid gloves rather than the George Foreman knockout gloves might be best.

This has been alot of fun verbally sparring with all of you, just like being in congress with crybaby Boehner. Perhaps just one of you, instead of crying crocodile tears about one snake that might not exist in So cal… perhaps, just perhaps, you could have moved on & actually been helpful to other hikers by telling them what snakes do exist, including several introduced species. To quote Captain Kirk," Get a life, Trekkies! There’s a whole world out there. Go on a date with a girl, or hike the appalachian trail" (the same thing according to some Republican governors). Since the crybaby eggheads won’t be of any help in the near future; here is a website with pictures of snakes you might find in SoCal:
californiaherps.com
you can of course search lots of other sites as well. According to hikethegeek.com, there are 6 kinds of rattlesnakes you might run into. The diaperbabies win: I admit that there is a 99.99% probability of not being any copperheads in SoCal, although in fact there probably are some at the zoo that might have escaped!!! Ok, lets hear the crybaby criticizers do some more whining & complaining instead of actually being helpful & giving information.

Dear GBM - This topic is about camping along the PCT. Please take your irrelevant nonsense and post it somewhere you can embarrass yourself without annoying others. Thanks in advance.

Dear HM: I am not the one who turned the thread into a criticism/complaint venue. In fact, you will notice in my last post that I gave 2 websites with info & pictures of many of the dozens of the snakes that can be seen on the PCT; including one snake that mimics rattlers, but is harmless. Please do not blame me alone: I didn't start the crap! But I agree with you: we should stop the negativity, regardless, since anyone who posts anything almost always makes a mistake (as I showed above). I in fact was joking about SoCal leeches, which as far as I know, don't exist. However, it is fun to feed the ticks to the ants.... Tip: grab ticks off your leg (pants) & put them in an ant hole... if the ants are big enuf, they will pull the tick down to its doom! Also, have someone check your back: at a river x-ing, someone spied a huge engorged one on me when I took off my shirt. I am going down a TX river soon: I am thru with this thread. Good riddance.

This is a topic about hiking the PCT. If you don’t have something positive to say, please refrain from saying anything at all. Share the love & keep the rest to yourself.
