Not to beat a dead horse but I was just meaning that as tight as Under Armour is, it may not be as good as something a liile more loose. I was taught the keys to staying warm were “Clean, loose and in layers”. I’m glad I read this thread though. I didn’t realize that cotton was THAT bad.

I will be posting my gear list here this week for review as well. I did want to mention the importance of poles or my opinion of the importance of poles. I hiked for the longest time without poles, longest trip was 21 days, full pack, etc I never knew what I was missing. I did a 3 week trip last year with my leki’s and it was great. They take a good deal of stress/weight off of your hips and lower back and help you maintain balance. I also use mine as my tent poles, but that depends on the tent you use. If you are hiking the whole trail you may want to reconsider using some form of poles or even a hiking stick.
