Hennesey hammock

I have been using my Hennessy since 2001. I have never gotten the wet butt, I just don’t understand when people say that. I think it is all in the proper tying of the hammock. i have stayed dry in some wild storms. I have gotten damp if a cloud/fog settles over me but that happens in a tent as well. – I am currently using the JRB underquilt and it has worked well. I still like to have a sleeping bag or quilt inside the hammock with me as well as the underquilt. I will be trying out the HH Undercover soon and will see how that works. Sue/HH:girl

A regular Speer-type Hammock (www.speerhammocks.com) is more comfortable than the Hennessey, IMO. I made one and have no problem sleeping on my side and often end up on my stomach right before I get up. I think if you add the bugnet it weighs a touch more than the Hennessey, but the bugnet is also removable so you can cut that weight when it gets cold.

In the HH, I’m pretty comfortable but usually end up sleeping on my back. I’d like to be on my sides more, but back sleeping in the HH is still MUCH more comfortable than back sleeping on a Thermarest.

Plus the convenience of a hammock make is much better than a tent or tarp, IMO.

Whiteblaze also has a hammock camping forum.

HH, do you use snake skins. I’m thinking they might prevent the water from running down the tied ends.
