i normally treat water with iodine when downstream from civilization but not always. out on the john muir i did not treat at all. i am 69 yrs. old. when i was a lad and working with my dad in the summertime on const. we took our lunch in a paper sack with left over chicken, minced ham sandwiches, potato salad etc. was no such thing as ins. cont. with ice. never once got sick. i think we became resistant to the bugs. and probably still are. but the younger generation are probably not as resistant now a days.

pa kettle really got his point across. i feel that I am resistant to water borne pathogens as well.

ps: Matt really gave it to superscout if you didn’t pick up on it. I said ZING out loud when i read it.

I don’t see how it’s anyones problem but my own if I get the shts. I’m not going to stand up in the shelter and spray sht in a three hundred and sixty degree fashion.
It’s a personal choice just showering.

There is a product called a Frontier pro that weighs 2 oz. check it out. Jason Klass has a video on his DIY system using it. Also, Hammock Forum has a DIY gravity feed system that is real light and cheap to make.
