A great film camera is the Yashika T-4. It has a Carl Zeiss lens, which creates super-sharp pics. I believe the f/stop is 3.5 and a fixed 38 mm lens, I believe. You can get them on Ebay for a reasonable price, $100ish. There’s also the Contax point and shoots as well… similar in design.
I’m a professinal photographer myself and use film. If I need a digital image, I just scan my negatives or positives whichever the case may be. Ofcourse, I would never take my Nikon w/lenses into the woods on a serious hike. Both the fear of moisture and delicate electronics and several thousands of dollars in gear is too much for me to risk (not to mention 15 lbs of gear :lol). For hiking I just use a simple digital camera. It seems peopler make a distinction between using film or using digital… how about using both?
