i heard that superglue was good to use if you are wearing sandals and get big cracks in your foot skin.
i didn’t follow this, but to save weight, get rid of the top lid of your pack and put all that stuff into a gallon freezer ziploc and put that in the top inside of your pack.
if you’re feeling strapped for cash, cut time in town by doing the nero: a nearly zero day. camp a few miles out, hike in in the morning, get chores done, and get back out of town a few miles. if you’re really feeling hiker trash-y, rummage in the hiker boxes for your town eats! :lol
if you are getting maildrops, yogi had a good tip in her PCT book to save time at the p.o.: have your box stand out, i.e. wrapped in colored paper, colored tape, etc. then you can just tell the postperson that your box is the orange one, or the one with spongebob stickers all over it.
instead of a scrubby, i used a little 3 inch spatula to scrape the food out of my pot and ate the food off the spatula. 2 problems solved: no gross food-water that you are supposed to drink to follow the leave-no-trace guidelines and you get to consume just about every single calorie you carried and cooked. i’m bringing the spatula on the PCT.
