two years ago i met a sobo just south of Clingman’s the first or second weekend of november. he was alone; don’t know how his location related to the rest of them! some i met last summer finished around the middle or end of october on springer.

I just did a section hike in southern mass earlier this week and there were 3 sobo’s staying with me at the south wilcox lean-to. So there are still some who have yet to leave New England.

Last year I was “scheduled” to finish my MEGA thru-hike prior to December 25th - I promised my girlfriend I would be through no later than that.

However, as the days got shorter and weather impacted trail conditions, I figured I wouldn’t make it on time. Then I tried night hiking through the Smokies and Georgia Mtns - just about killed myself.

Bottom line - I finished the last day of December (after a start on July 15th). There was pure hell to pay when I got back home.
