I’m looking to do the 100-mile stretch at the end of the AT in Maine in July. What type of elevation change should I expect on a daily basis (planning an 8-day trip)?

yup. lots of small ups and downs with a few bog walks. Hope you are in good shape.

The difficulty is overrated. If you are in decent shape, 8 days is more than enough time to complete it and enjoy the scenery.

Thanks guys–I’m looking forward to it.

Of the 260 miles of AT in Maine, I found the “100 mile wilderness” to be the easiest as far as terrain, but wet, very wet. Of coarse, this was the week that the remnant of Hurricane Ophilia blew through, and afew weeks after Katrina hit us in the Whites. Life Affirming stuff in those river crossings…wet, very wet.
