127 Defining Moments

Hello fellow Hikers,

I need your help! Hopefully it’s cool to post this here?

Remember the climber Aron Ralson who’s arm was trapped and had to cut his arm off with a pocket knife to free himself after 6 days. During my hike on the PCT in 2008 I had a bear experience the night before we reached Canada, and I submitted it to 127 Defining Moments. It was late at night when I submitted a draft, and was updating the final my entry when the deadline passed. My draft entry was submitted with some typos, kind of incomplete and, the picture is all messed up. Despite this I was selected as one of the 126 finalist!

I am trying stay in the top ten. Please read my story, and if you like it click the thumbs up to cast your vote for me. The counter should increment when you have casted your vote.

Thanks for your help and see you on trail,

Flippy

Also you don’t have to give any personal information to vote, and the site is legitimate.

Your adventure grabbed me. However the Sierra Designs website appears to be less than optimal. I could not get past the opening paragraphs. I could not scrolI down and nothing I clicked allowed me to get beyond the opening screen. I want to know how this ended !! I also would like to read the others !!

I found out by accident that you have to click on that tab on the right of the first paragraph…and drag it down to see the rest~J.

Thanks to Journey for that tip. I tried to vote for Flippy, but couldn’t tell if it was counted. The site is not very user friendly, or perhaps it’s just moi…:frowning:

Good Luck Flippy. I’ve had enough with the up close and personal with bears, too.

The story about the fellow who was impaled on the antler of a dead deer was rather droll, too. :tongue

Lady Di…The website has experienced some issues. Appreciate your support and patience.

Thanks,

I only read 2 stories but it seems like defining moments are mostly stupid mistakes... especially Ralston who told no one where he'd be; although thru hikers do this most of the time, for the most part! I made countless stupid mistakes (keeping my food on the JMT in my tent whereupon a bear fell on my legs trying to get at the food at my feet, not under my head... up at Charlotte lake where the trees were all stunted).... of course my next trail, the CDT, I had Ursacks which, if you read the directions, are designed to be tied to the trunk of a tree a distance from your tent... so I guess your lesson would be to read the directions!!!... I didn't see any thumbs up, I clicked on an apple or something; so I don't know if I voted or not!

i found a human skull once whilst bushwhackin in nh, scared the absolute crap outta me, had the creeps the whole way down through the thick growth, talkin’ to myself the whole way

Hey neighbor,
Did you report the skull? You know people just don’t go around losing their heads.

Miguel

yup hauled a whole contingent of authority up there the next day to retrieve not only the skull, but the rest of him under the forest duff. he’d been there for almost 20 years
