A suspect has been caught who matches the widely-circulated description of the arsonist who was seen at tbe start of the “Old” fire.
Seperately, an arsonist was apprehended setting a new fire in Eaton Canyon, north of Altadena (Angeles NF).
The fire was extinguished.
The Old Fire did sweep around Silverwood Lake (and over the PCT) last night. A fire line is being cut across the southern part of the City of Hesperia. The fire doubled back on Crestwood, near Lake Arrowhead, from the north; scanner reports imply that Lake Arrowhead is almost surrounded by fire. Down near Julian, the 2002 Pines Fire “protects” some of the PCT from the effects of the current fire, in a pyrric sense.
Fortunately, there is a chance of snow in the mountains on Friday and Saturday.
