You will not find a lighter tent with as much room as a MSR Missing Link. It is aprox 3 lbs. I am 6’ 3" and there is enough room for two people my size and all of there gear. It sets up using your treking poles. I used it this past April on the AT in about 4" of snow and it held up great. The only drawback is it is a single wall tent, but it is vented at both the top and bottom.

Try looking at the Tacoma-For-2 Ultralight Shelter or for a tighter fit, the tent I used for my AT thru hike this year, the Arapaho. Two people will fit in the Arapaho with all the gear outside. See my trailjournal for a review of the Arapaho.

The LL Bean microlight is a great tent.

Since you are hiking with your gf, why go for the 2-person tent!!! Get a one person and save on the weight of both the tent and the need for a heavy sleeping bag, a summer bag and a little love goes a long way in staying warm!!!

By Bibler. It’s a single wall, free standing, two person 3# tent with room for gear. Very fast set up with internal poles so you can set up while you are in out of the rain!

I’m 6’3" and generally lie from corner to corner in my Firstlight. It’s a shareable space if the other person is small. A compromise between space and weight, as usual.
Good luck!

We love ours. It feels like home. After being back from the trail for almost 3 months I’m practically beside myself with anticipation at getting back out in the middle of nowhere and going back “home” to our dear sweet tent. On a non-gushy, completely practical note, its best features - as fatback noted - are its spaciousness, it’s marvelous ventilation and its cheery orange color. And of course most importantly it’s wonderfully light. It is well designed for a couple in which one person is bigger than the other, as the shape of the floor is a parallelogram. My husband and I are close to the same height (6’ and 5’9") but it was still roomy enough for us.
