I live in the Upstate of SC. I am planning a thru hike of the PCT for 2012 and I want to include a 2-week training hike on the AT in mid to late March as part of my training. Any recommendations on a good section of the AT to hike?

Dicks Creek Gap, Georgia, to Davenport Gap, Tennessee. That will give you alot of great scenery including all of the Nanatahala and Smokey Mountains sections.

Also, Dicks Creek Gap may be the most convenient location to you, since you’re in South Carolina. The Gap is on U.S. Hwy 76 about 15 miles west of Clayton, Georgia, which is not far from Westminster, South Carolina.
