Hey all
Just thought id give some feedback on places ive stayed for people heading out still this year.
Rainbow Springs-I only stopped in to resupply, but the new owners are extremely nice people. They gave 6 of us a lift back to the Trail and were so nice. Decent resupply there, plus pizzas, snacks etc…only a mile walk from the Trail.
Tellico Gap-Ron runs a great hostel but unfortunately its closed for the season.
Stay at the Hike Inn in Fontana! We stayed in Fontana Village last night and it was horrible. They advertise an AYCE meals but don’t have enough food for all. And the grocery store is very shotty resupply. There is nothing to do here and NO way to hitch anywhere else.
The NOC offers a good bunkhouse at a fair price and has a very good restruant albeit a bit pricey.
Neels gap is a great place. The Porters are great people and had a bbq for all of us. Great first stop on the AT.
Thats all for now. Not trying to get anyone to stay anywhere, just offering some up to date tips.
Good luck to All behind
