Wondering who might be hiking all or part of the Arizona Trial in 2010. I’ve seen posting from the following who plan a thru or section hike:
Brady Fulton+wife; Kimberlie Dame; Will; Bowlegs; arizona trail; Shawn; and maybe ouli and Guimo.

Anyone else???

PS Water should be good this spring given the January and February storms across the whole state. If you have updates to the water chart, let me know.

Section hiker: AT, COT, most of PCT (finish in Aug). Was starting CDT At Crazy Cook abt 1 Apr to do all of NM; still will start then, but 180-200% normal snow in the Gilas will stop me at Silver City. I also plan a mo Sbound fm Waterton Lakes into MT starting abt 1 Jul. After the wedding I plan to finish NM.
So what to do for another 2-3 weeks in Apr? Hayduke, GET, or AZT? Hayduke poss too cold this early, for me, w/unknown snow; also a lot of logistical time. GET poss snow in Superstitions & prob snow by Pinalenos (Brett?). In order to head back towards my car, left somewhere near Phoenix? for 1 May wedding in KS, I decided on the AZT.
Joined ATA yesterday, and ordered book, maps, cd,t-sirt, & bandana(for the wall). Already written p/o my plan fm Mexico to an out at or near Phoenix on the GET.
In this El Nino year (hi snow in CA, AZ, NM, & prob CO - lo snow in OR, WA, prob MT, & prob WY), snow in the Huachucas & Superstitions may be a problem on the AZT in Apr. Anyone have thoughts on the snow? Interesting that highest point on AZT is almost in Mexico.

Trekker Bob - By April, little or no snow likely in AZ, south of the Mogollon Rim, below 8500’. That would mean just the Pinalenos on a GET hike. Even then, it might not be a deal killer, even this year.

Also, you might be ok in Gila country at that time of year, despite the above average snowpack. The Mogollons tend to take the brunt of the winter snowpack; I wouldn’t expect much elsewhere along the combination CDTA - CDTS route that most hikers follow north of Silver City, except for Tadpole Ridge perhaps. The main fork of the Gila River may or may not be high and difficult, depending on how the melt goes, but then that’s avoidable with a bit of roadwalking.

I am planning a late March start at the Mexico border. looks like a good year for water. expect to finish the middle of May.Have hiked the AT, Ice Age Trail and Tahoe Rim Trail. This will be my first desert hike.

I’ll be there with Zoner, probably around April 1st, headed NOBO.

Gray Ghost, you hiked the Ice Age Trail?!?! Awesome! That was my first long distance trail, hiked it in 2003. Hope to see you on trail and talk about Old Style beer and bratwurst. Yeah Wisconsin!
