									Dear Fellow Hikers:

I’m wondering if anyone even remembers who I am - for those who don’t, my name is Scotty Rogers, and I am the “infamous” amputee hiker from 2004-05.

My reason for posting is multi-fold: I wanted to touch base with some of my old friends and let you know that I’m still alive and doing relatively well. Me and the missus are still married, and will celebrate our 21st wedding anniversary on the 23rd of June. Our oldest son, Tyler (age 20) recently returned from his first tour of Iraq; he’s a member of the Tn Nat’l Guard 278th. We’re quite proud of him.

The alleged “book” that was purported that I was writing has never been written - I am hoping to change that this year, providing that I can locate someone with writing skills that are similar to mine, and can tell my story in a manner that sounds like me.

I will be giving a presentation at the 2011 Trail Days on Friday, May 13 from 5pm - 6pm. It would be great to be reacquainted with some of my old friends with whom I’ve lost contact with over the years.

Most of you who remember my precious wife will not recognize her any longer. Back in August of 2008, she underwent Gastric Bypass surgery (I like to call it “drastic bypass” given the fact that she’s changed so drastically in appearance) - She is now thinner than I’ve ever known her to be - it’s taken quite some time to get accustomed to the “new” her. I’m rather proud of her accomplishments.

As a family, we will all be hiking the section from Davenport Gap to Fontana Dam sometime in mid to late April - southbounding - it’d be awesome to see some of you there on the trail!!!

It’s been so long, it feels good to be getting back, on a very, very limited basis, to my trail roots.

God’s blessings upon you all,
Scotty Rogers

									Scotty,

I ran into you and your family several times in 2004. More than once in Virginia and I believe in Tennessee. I recall coming into camp during a very rainy day. I was wearing a rain kilt made from a trashbag. I had shorts on under the trashbag but your daughter was concerned when I started to remove the rain kilt. I followed your hike to complete the trail in 2005 with great interest. I was very concerned about how you would deal with Katahdin. Having hiked it more than once, I knew how difficult a climb it could be. If I failed to congratulate you on your great I I wish to do so now.

Hey, One Leg, Flame and I gave you some trail magic at New Found Gap in the Smokeys. Your wife and family were their with the van. Your prosthetic had malfunctioned and you had a crutch. Great to hear you are back to hiking. Tell you wife hello and have a great hike.

I think I ran into you and your family near Wayah Bald. Your hike was one of the dramas of that trail season and we'd get updates through the grape vine on your progress.:cheers
