Any others planning to hike in 2012? Expected start date? Mine is April 14th. Still too early for me to start a journal though.

I’m on the 20 year plan. Next big push should be in 05-06/2012. Probably Hudson River to parts north or Rockfish Gap to parts south depending on the feng shui at the time (and taking time off work and there being no family crisis and getting permission from the wife and… )See you out there.

I am planning on my 2014 thru. Till then my plan is to section all of it before this date. If I can great and if not oh well I will have had a good warm-up. Got to get two kids out of the house. I thought about taking them with me but I fear that would turn into a 36 month ordeal on the trail.

According to the X-Files series finale, 2012 is when the aliens return. It might actually be best to be in the woods then.

I have you all beat I am planning a thru in 30001 the one really matter that has to be the date. sorry to say this but I would like to think that not that many people care if you are planning to hike the AT in ten years a lot can change in that time how known’s we might even be able to do it in jet packs by then now that would be fun!!! I have one question why April 14 don’t you want to get a little closer to the start date before you choose a departure time. Planning is over rated. By the way I know I am going to get crap for this post.

February 27, 2012. 4 years, 4 months and 9 days. Getting kids through college and quitting your job can take a lot of planning.
