At Echo Summit (that’s near Lake Tahoe) they just measured for the second time this season. Only 12% of normal.

I saw this report too. Terrible for California’s drought problems, but potentially great for those wanting to get an early start in the Sierra this year.

I believe at least two hikers already have!

As of March 1, N Sierra is 16%, C Sierra is 20%, and S Sierra is 22% of normal. Good year for that Yo-yo you’ve dreamed about. LOL.

As of April 1, N 8%, C 8%, and S 7%. Not sure why April’s numbers are so much lower than March. Any way you look at it this winter was very dry.

Has it been warmer than freezing? Perhaps some of it has melted, thus the current depth relative to a “normal” April would be a lower % than the depth in March was relative to a “normal” March?
