28 miles to go - Arizona Trail

Hated to have to get onto a road so close to the end. But the fire looked like it was pretty nasty. The Grand Canyon was a glorious experience and not hard to get a permit. Be sure to hike into Ribbon falls—and go around to the back of the falls. It was hot to hike the canyon but not as bad as I thought it would be. If the water is off at the rim–turn it onat the green metal box on the way to the faucet. Now it’s back on the trail for the last few days. AND hope for a hitch out of there.
Thank you to all the people who maintain the trail and those who have helped me. A special hello to Ann Marie in Pine and to Roger and Kath in GC.This trail has been one of my favorites.
I hope more people hike next year.

Finished last night at 7:30. So excited!!! Roni came in after dark. Got a ride from kind people to 89 and some other nice canyon hikers shared their camping spot with me at the TH. It was an easy hitch to Kanab–but now I’m stuck here —The Kanab shuttle driver is in Salt Lake City. Lady at the shuttlle service is trying to help—wish me luck. The futher I am from the trail the more I don’t like to hitch.Good luck to all the hikers behind me

Hey Marmot. Hope you were able to get a ride.
Ended up spending all day with the guys who gave us the ride to to road, and even camped with them. The extrodinarly knowledgable person in the page info center adviced me not to get a hitch to flag in the navaho nation but to go back up to lees ferry, where they put down the boats that go down the GK, and indeed the next day I got a ride strait to flagstaff, without ever having to hitch. I’m staying here with will and chelse
