I am looking at segments 456 of the colorado trail to do over three days. I am wondering if this is to much to try and do for our first time. recommendations on 3 days close to denver welcomed

That’s about 65 miles total. Unless you are a very experienced hiker, I would allow one more day. (Or maybe just do 5 and 6.)

I really only have three days if you had to pick 2 of those any recommnendations?

I would recommend 5 & 6 out of the 3 choices. These two ate doable in 3 days and their the most beautiful. Plus you finish in a town.

I hiked from Buffalo Creek Campground to South Park (bout 4 miles from Kenosha Pass and start of seg 6). So essentially the end of 3, all of 4, and most of 5. Did I also mention that I started at 5am, finished at 9pm, and puked my guts?

I would start in the middle of segment 4 as the valley there is gorgeous. It allows you to skip the climb long climb in Lost Creek Wilderness which has no views.
The trailhead would be at the Lost Park Campground.
