I was going to do the GC for Thanksgiving, but the people I was going with canceled. Instead I’ll be spending this upcoming week in Zion National Park instead.

The Grand Canyon is a great place for hiking/backpacking in the Spring and Fall. The winter can be hazzardous with ice/snow on the upper trails though. The summer is just too hot in those canyons. I find spring time (March-April) to be the most idea time for the weather and ease of finding water.

I haven’t posted anything on here in ages, but I thought I’d chime in. My husband and I live in Flagstaff, Arizona, and hike the Grand Canyon frequently, including a trip last weekend down the Grandview Trail to Horseshoe Mesa and the Cave of the Domes. A week before that we dayhiked down South Kaibab to the Tonto and back up Bright Angel, and a couple of weeks before that was our annual rim to rim trip. I can’t get enough of the big ditch.

Anyhoo, Miner, we’ll also be spending Thanksgiving weekend in Zion with friends from the Flagstaff Outdoors Club. What a coinki-dink.
