3rd Southeastern Foot Trails Conference

The 3rd Southeastern Foot Trails Conference is planned for April 28 - May 1, 2005 at Table Rock State Park near Greenville, SC. This is about 75 minutes south of Asheville, NC. This event is being coordinated by American Hiking Society and the National Park Service, and is co-hosted by the Foothills Trail Conference, and the Palmetto Conservation Foundation.

There are all kinds of things planned for this conference.

On Thursday April 28 the Backpacker Get Out More Team will be on hand to work on trails in the morning, and lead a hike at 2 PM. Long hikes on the Foothills Trail and Palmetto Trail will start at 11 AM. That evening photographer Jerry Greer will provide a slideshow of the Southern Appalachians,

On Friday April 29, a host of pre-conference workshops are planned. Topics include Grantwriting, Board University - which is a training class for non-profit Board Members, and several different Trail Construction classes. Our evening entertainment will be Drovers Old Time Medicine Show. Live Bluegrass!

Saturday things kick into high gear with a host of education programs. Featured speakers include Dr. Jeff Marion - Recreation Ecologist, Nate “Tha Wookie” Olive, and much more!

Things close out Sunday with guided naturalist hikes.

Full conference registration (includes all workshops, entertainment & educational session PLUS 9 meals) is $140. If you want to come in Friday night and enjoy 6 meals it’s $115. A single day registration is $50. You can also register for a no-meals option for $70, and experience the full conference.
