I’m arriving this Sunday by bus to West Yellowstone and will have 6 days to hike Yellowstone and-or Grand Tetons before meeting someone for a bike tour on the TransAm bike trail. I’d love to find somebody to go in the backcountry with for a few nights, since I’m not to sure about going out alone, although I’m fully prepared. Any suggestions about “hooking up” ! I live in Alabama and have only made one hike out west - to Anaconda-Pintler Wilderness with a Sierra Club backpack. send me a quick text message to 334-494-1047 since I’m not sure when I’ll check this site or my e-mail

West edge of Y.stone is deadly dry. I tried to do the west boundary trail that a fire destroyed & barely made it to where the surface water exists nearing Old Faithful area. Retiree volunteers at permit office @ West Y entrance don’t know much about backcountry bikingacross Y.stone is also fun; gotta wait for bugling elks & buffalos to get outta the way in fall. Virginia City/ nevada City were quite fun stop on the Transam trail.
Catch the mellodramas & live music at the club on main drag. See or ride working steam train. I hiked thru there on my rocky mtn thru hike.
