Just looked at the online weather station for Mt. Mitchell. -6 is the current air temp. I hope no one is on the trail tonight.

We are all getting hit by this cold snap… my temp gauge (indoor/outdoor model from Carolina Biological Supply, so is pretty accurate) reads 1.2 F degrees outside, with wind chill is -16 degrees F. (I live in Detroit)

Yeah, I hope nobody is on trail, and damn glad I am not tonight…my littl2 20 degree TNF bag would be my body bag on a night like this…

Yesterday morning it was -27 at my house in Wisconsin. Currently it’s -4 and supposed to get up to 24…the warmest it’s been in about a week. I shouldn’t have too much of a problem with March 5th as the start of my NOBO thru hike.

At 7:30am it’s -6* with a windchill reading -22*, high today expected to be 0*. Went shoe shoeing yesterday around High Pond in Brandon and it was a balmy 12*.

At 8:00 a.m. it’s 5 degrees here right now. Most schools are closed down, the wind chill is -13. We usually don’t get extreme temps like this. I don’t hike under 35, I have asthma and I don’t like wearing a mask either. Stay warm ! 8)

It’s -3 in mid coast Maine right now, temps further inland around the AT are around -30. Wouldn’t want to be going through the notch today!

It’s +14.2 here in Kenai, AK this morning @ 6:00 AM. Pretty mild this winter. Breezy, but not gusting like it has been lately.

It got down to 72 F last night. Most people on the island huddled together at bars for MLK day. Today it’s finally warming up to around 81-83 F. I think we’re going to make it.

Got down to 62 in my house last night. (Damn wife keeps playin with the thermostat!) Had to crawl into my silk liner for extra warmth under the covers. Even had the dog and cat join us. When will it all end?

Siesta Key. 42 this morning with a stiff breeze from the north. I was talking to my friend in Maine today and she said it is going to be a three cat night up there. And last night was one too.

Grizzly, I’ll bet you’d hike that thing in shorts. What’s the shorts threshold again…around -15??
