$60/week trail crews

Colorado Trail crewing only costs $60 a week for food; according to my sister, you work 4 days & get a couple days off, but you may have to provide your own tent & other camping gear.; some you can drive to; some they jeep you to; some you backpack in & move camp every day.
coloradotrail.org has all the info on 2013 volunteering & there are many spaces left !

Even though $60 is cheap how can they call it volunteer if you have to pay for it? At least its way more reasonable then an AMC “volunteer crew”.

I think $60 is cheap.

Nothing unusual about volunteers having expenses. The IRS even has a little line for it on tax return. If you get paid you are not a volunteer. If you don’t get paid you are.

Stay home. Someone who would whine about this probably wouldn’t be a very pleasant person to spend a week on a crew with.

$60 is $10/day for 3 meals; & if you go for 2 weeks, I think it says $30 or $5 a day for the 2nd week! I seem to remember the Sierra club charges about $60/day to work on a trail crew, but I think they consider it a fundraiser like all their high priced trips ($200-$300/day many of them that you could do yourself for cheap).
