I have read the rules, but i am still curious as to why posts that discuss the A.T., are still deleted sometimes.

My opinion…is that entries are usually deleted because they are unusually profane, contain strong personal attacks on someone, have definite racist/sexist/homophobic or otherwise bigotted or gross statements. I am VERY grateful for the fact Leif & Zipdrive do watch out for things posted here. They seem to do their job well…not being overly concerned about small stuff, but stepping in when things get out of line. THANKS YOU GUYS!:cheers :cheers :cheers

Well guys,
Two of my friends and I have been planning a AT hiking trip for quite a while. We finally got around to doing it. This past wednesday we summited springer mtn for our first time, signed the register, took our pictures, and began our hike into the AT. We shortcut’d across the benton mckay to three forks, and continued on to hawk mtn shelter. Spent the night tented outside the shelter because it was full of boy scouts. Then hiked back to the springer mtn parking lot via the AT section we bypassed the first time. The uphills did me in. It was a fantastic trip. My third to the AT, and my friends first trip. I hope to eventually complete the entire trail by section hiking it. So far I have almost completed the georgia section. All I need is neels gap to woody gap to complete it.

I’m from florida and have already completed most of the florida trails, but I find the elevation changes in the AT challenging. I have EXTREME respect for anyone that has done this entire trail…wow what a trail.

I am currently running a 27lb pack 5 day pack, so the weight isn’t a problem. The pack feels good, but my legs are worn out after 16 miles due to the uphills…is their anything besides vitamin-I that can help?

Thanks, and happy trails
Bryan
