It has been very dry this year in Georgia. Any small out of control flame could set off a major fire.
I have not heard of any restrictions on fires. However, the AT National Park Rangers may have made any fires illegal at this time. I would imagine you would see signs posted at trail heads if fires are restricted. Of course at any time there are restrictions from building fires unless in designated areas. (Fire Rings at shelters)
If you are staying at a shelter, there will be fire rings for you to have a fire. I would not attempt any fires without a fire ring.
