Actual northern terminus of the AZT

Hello fellow hikers,

Can any of the previous hikers of the AZT tell me for sure that the northern terminus of the AZT is actually the Stateline Campground or does the trail terminate a few miles from there at an intersection with Hwy. 89?

Thank you,

The terminus is the State Line campground. Be aware that there is no water at the campground. You will need to hitch out to 89, which can be a tough hitch.

Thank you Loup…My sister will pick me up at State Line CG. I had read about no water at SLCG so I will be prepared.

Thanks again,

haznohorse,

If your sister has a car and is picking you up, then you should cajole, beg, plead, bribe or extort her to get up early in the morning and stand in line to get a permit for you to hike the Wave.

The trail head for the Wave is only like 2 miles from State Line camp ground, but they are really really tight about giving permits…and you cannot get one on a walk-up basis.
