Adirondacks Hike

My wife and I are planning a trip to the Adirondack State Park next month and would like to spend a few nights in the woods. Can anyone recommend a moderate 3 day/ 2 night (aprox. 30 miles) hike. A loop would be preferable.
Thanks.

I hiked 50 miles on the Northville Placid Trail with my daughter last summer. The area around Duck Hole is beautiful, and we met some folks there who were doing a loop hike in the area. I’m not sure what trails they pieced together to make it happen. I suggest you investigate possibilities in that area. It’s just south of Lake Placid.

Good luck!

Northville Placid trail is good, but it should be done in one thru hike,it’s 150 miles so three days dosn’t really get you much.I would do some hiking in the Pharaoh Lake Wilderness Area.Lots of shelters, plenty of Mountains to streach your legs.Try Pharaoh Mountain, great views.Get the guide book for the area:Guide to the Eastern Adirondacks from the Adirondack Mountain Club.Telephone is :518-668-4447.They also may have some hints on hikes in the Adirondacks.:cheers

If you are staying near the ADK Loj hike out through Avalanche Pass (cool area with cat walks and ladders) up through the Coldin area and back through I believe Indian Pass. It is a big loop that is 3 days of hiking and 2 nights out. Just before returning to the loj area you will pass Rocky Falls. You could drop you packs at the loj and climb the short hike up Mt JO. Short mile climb BIG VIEWs.

Ducks Hole is beautiful.

I am missing the ADKS this summer to continue northward on my GET journey. (Great Eastern Trail.)

Rather than hauling your stuff all 3 days, i would recommend this:

Starting from ADK Loj, hike to Lake Colden through the ??? (what is the name of the narrow place with all the history of ladders and stuff?) Anyway, through the narrow part to Lake Colden. Leave your camp where it is. 2nd day day hike up Algonquin (shorter) or Marcy or Starlight (longer). 3rd day you can backtrack or pick another route back. If you did Marcy/Starlight on day 2, and y ou’re energetic, you could use day 3 to traverse Algonquin, and that puts you back at the Loj.
