All hikes in Harriman are cancelled tomorrow due to the following warning:

The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation is advising patrons to refrain from hiking in backcountry of Harriman State Park until further notice due to an ongoing, multi-jurisdictional police search for a murder suspect thought to be armed and hiding in the park. Cautionary flyers are being posted at trailheads. In a related move, the park has closed its Beaver Pond Campground until further notice.

The suspect was last reported to be in the Lake Welch area, but could be anywhere.

We have quite a few hikes scheduled in NJ and East of the Hudson as options for this weekend. If you were planning on attending a Harriman Hike, please contact your leader for possible alternates.
