Does anyone know of an airport that is within a reasonable distance to Damascus. I hiked last year and want to make it back to see everyone but can’t get time off to drive down from MA. It is a little late to be making these arrangements but hopefully I can pull something off.

Tri-Cities in TN serves Kingsport, Bristol, and Johnson City TN. Damascus is about a 40 min drive from there.

When I had to fly to the Damascus area last year (from Atlanta), I found the rates to be exorbitant - in the range of $1k per roundtrip whether I reserved early or late. If you encounter this as well, you might consider looking at (a) Knoxville, about 90 minutes away, (b) Roanoke, about 90 minutes away, or © Asheville, about 2 hours away.
If you have a buddy with a private plane, the closest airport is Mountain EMpire - but there are no car rentals there.
