For the thousandth time I’m sure, what would be the best/easiest/cheapest way to get a ride from the Atlanta airport to Amicalola Falls? I just bought my ticket to Atlanta and now need help getting to AF.

Much Love,

How much $$$ will that cost?

Shouldn’t be more than $70 total. Or go to the ATC website for the list of AT shuttlers in the Springer area.

$11.25 for the bus ticket and about $60 for the cab fare. However, if you find another person who is willing to share the cab, cut the cab fare in half. You won’t be the only hiker arriving on the bus in Gainesville during that period of time, hook up with one of them if possible.

Well… if anyone is interested in jumping in on cab fare, I will be arriving in Atlanta with my hiking partner on the 24th. Yes, it’s late, but that’s as soon as we can get out there.

Also, anyone have any suggestions as to where to stay near Amicalola (for cheap)? According to the data book, there are shelters and campsites, but we were thinking that just one night in a real bed before we hit the trail might be nice after all the traveling. (the answer may be in Wingfoot… but I’m waiting for it to arrive in the mail:)

How far is it in mileage from Gainesville to Amicalola? How long will the bus ride be from Atlanta to Gainesville?

Gainesville to Amicalola is about 40 miles. Bus from Atlanta to Gainesville is a little over an hour.

Texan,
When you go to the website for the AT shuttles list you will probably find that there is a variety of ways. I believe there are several people that work in Atlanta and will pick you up on their way home. Some you take MARTA from the airport to a MARTA station pickup point on the north end of Atlanta. $70 is a good price but there are ways that are cheaper. It has been 15 years since I rode MARTA so I don’t know how it has changed, it was nice then. There is a station at the airport.

Hey Brian,
I found a shuttle from the airport to Amicolola for just $30 and two of us are splitting the costs so it will be really cheap for each person. I used an ad from trailplace.com and we are taking the MARTA (only $1.75 I think) and then getting picked up from one of the stations. What day are you arriving? Maybe you can just come with us! Let me know if you need more details.

Tom Raymond is the cheapest shuttle I found, $35 to Amicalola from Atlanta airport. (404)402-7022. No personal connection, I was just going to use his but he is busy on the 2nd when I fly in. If you need a shuttle on the 2nd, you can hop on mine!

I live in Athens, but go to ATL all the time. If somebody needs a ride, let me know. I might be able to help somebody for gas money if I don’t have to work. (usually don’t work on Fridays) Weekends are hit or miss. April 19th looks like a good day (if early morning). Might be able to swing something another day just let me know. I’ll help if I can.:boy
