Just learned about them from Yogi’s update page, and they looked like a good alternative to the P.O. for a maildrop- Longer hours, etc.
I tried their number but it has been disconnected. Anyone know their current status?

Cascade Locks is a good trail town but many residents don’t hike. They have become alot more friendlier the last 10 years. At the Marina is free camping but can get loud due to trains. Just outside town is Government Island that is 1.5mi but may be worth it-260 degree views over the Columbia River. Closer by, if you hike along Forest Lane and up road to Campground beside Forest Service Maintenance Station ,there are great campsites free of noise(about.5 mi from Cascade Locks) These are quite and shaded. Maybe someone will open a Hostel here but it is difficult to stay open more than about 6 mon. out of year and the Locks are slowly becoming a bedroom community for Portland. Portland is a easy hitch on I-84(totally legal right on freeway) and good public transit system. If you are a carnivore, there is a steak challenge at The Country Kitchen-eat a 72 oz steak(roast ) in an hour and its free. Enjoy your hike and the NW!

your hiking into Cascade Locks there is no need to mail packages for three reasons:
You can resupply from the Cascade Locks grocery store if you aren’t too picky.
Hood River is 20 miles away with is full service with three/four outfitters fitting almost every need. There are also two large grocery stores, a Wal-Mart and two all you can eat buffets. However, there isn’t camping in town and hotels are expensive.
Of course there is Portland.
The hitch is on the interstate but try some begging at the Eagle Creek trailhead or in Cascade Locks.

I believe there is a bus or shuttle to Portland there as well, if you are down with that trip.
Portland is cool to visit, and they have some great Outfitters there…I believe Bucky, Link, Circus and a few other PCTers live there…probably a lot more then I remember telling me.
