I’m planning on leaving in mid march. I think february will be a little too cold for me! Where are you guys based from? I’m trying to find people to hike with, even if it’s just weekend hikes.

I’m planning a March 15 departure, just because it’s the ides of march. yes, i’m a big fat loser, thanks for noticing  May leave earlier or later, depending on when other people are going. I’m going solo as of now so I don’t have a partner to organize with!

Hi hippie hiker chic,

I am planning on a March 2004 departure from Springer too. Two others women may be my hiking partners. One is pretty sure she’ll go, the other I seem to recently have lost touch with, but hope we’ll reconnect soon. We are also planning for an “Ides” departure date!

Two of us are in North Texas (near Dallas/Ft. Worth), the other has moved to San Francisco.

Yay! Angie, that’s great! Finally! We will definately have to keep in touch! I thought I was the only one that was all sentimental and sappy like that
What are you guys doing to get ready? Do you have your gear yet? I may e-mail you later today if the work gods don’t dump a snow storm on me and make me really busy at the tv station. If I don’t get to e-mail you, write me, ok? and we’ll figure out how to contact each other! Maybe we could get together and go for a hike somewhere in the middle this summer

Lord willing the plan is head North mid March. As a novice backbacker I have a lot to learn. Thank you Lief & Zipdrive for the hours of diversion your site has provided. Peace.

I’m a novice backpacker of sorts too. I’ve done lots of hiking and camping, but never anything like this. I’m beginning to find that there’s lots I don’t know!
Do you have a hiking partner? Where are you located. I’m in NC/VA if you want to do some hiking this spring/summer

Hinking in March. Still haven’t heard from our friend about which weekend, the 1st of March of the 8th. You’re welcome to join our loop in the Grayson Highlands if you want. Friday night, Sat and half Sunday. We’ll talk gear at you for HOURS 'till you scream stop. And do bring your Dragonfly, we’d love to hear you play it. :>) Anyone else want to join us in a snowy loop in March? Entertainment provided by Renaissance Man and his Theatre in the Ground and by HHC’s stove as accompaniment. Hit the forum each night at 8 if you can.

Thats the weekend before the beginning of spring break, but I think my spring break plans are falling thru anyway. I’ll ask off in the next week or so and let you know asap.
now you’ve scared me off of getting a dragonfly  Not sure what i’m getting now. I’m going to look around at REI. Bought my pack today and ordered my zoid 1.5  I’ll see if I can jump on chat tonight. there’s b-ball, so that means nothing for me to do but homework and surf the net. yippee  just 7.5 hrs left!

The Fly is okay, just loud. Go to REI and have them fire up the Superfly. Its a little louder than your home gas stove and quieter than a Wisperheavy. And you get heat NOW. Click poof. You’ll be done eating when everyone else is still priming.
