Any opinion on tent size?

Ok, another question. In looking for tents, I’m wondering if a 1 person or 2 person tent is better. For size, obviously 2 person, but I’m wondering about weight, etc. Any opinions?

If you’re not claustrophobic, if you can get your pack into it, and if it does not ooze condensation, you will think yourself wise to have chaosen a one person because of the weight you are saving.

to get a 2 person tent? I understand the weight issue, but it seems like a lot of stuff to squeeze into a 1 person tent…

I have a North Face Canyonlands. Has a side entrance, all mesh, 1 pole. Easy set up, billed as a 1.5 person tent. Weighs just under 3 lbs. Plenty of room for 1. Campmor has them for under $200.00. I love this tent.

I have a MSR Zoid 2 (2 person). It’s about 4 lbs, and like house inside. I love the damn thing. I forgot how much I paid for it. I think $200.00

I used a Sierra Designs Clip Flashlight CD 2 person on my hike. I would reccomend however that you look into sil-nylon tarps before making any purchases. You will save a substantial amount of weight and bulk. I’m now using a Integral Design Silshelter that doesn’t have the privacy issues that make some people shy away from tarping.

Hey Mongoose, any trouble with the Zoid? How’s that ventilation on hot days? Are the poles ferreless? Good waterproofing?
