I hadn’t deleted the shortcut from my bookmarks yet and accidently went there. Looks like WF is putting up a new site again.

Sgt. Rock,

He said he would put up a non-inactive site and it looks like this is it. Suppose it will be nice, but who knows.

I wish WF luck and God bless his efforts. I just hope there is still an audience for his practical advice after this last year of specious and sudden changes leaving many adrift who needed the last few months to plan their dream of a lifetime. He could have made these changes in April after letting those who wanted to interact, ask questions and get answers!

Which is why I think Leif and ZipDrive are doing a great service in allowing multiple journals, multiple trails, and multiple inputs on their site. They have been very good hosts with timely advice, but letting others enjoy the site and just plain counting on them to use it wisely.

I love comming to this site.

I think the interaction between hikers was what made Trailplace what it was, not necissarily WF himself, although he did a pretty good job most of the time as a facilitator.

No FAQ, article, book, or info page can ever replace two way dialoug for getting one’s point across or making sure you understand something completly when asking a question.

I think Zip Drive and Leif have got a great site here.

I personally love this site. The guys who run it are GREAT! You email them and they do whatever they can to help you. – As for WF’s site, it is a wealth of information in one place and is a great resource tool that will only get better over time. WF has actually moved to Atlanta to be closer to family and possible get out a little. – In the absence of T-place others came to the rescue with interactive dialogue sites. I love the ones I visit and am glad that they are there, as well as this one. Even an old dog acn learn a few new tricks, like dropping a 55 pack down to 25!!! Also it’s great to share what you have learned to those who will follow. ~hamockhngr~

I too missed WF and the advice I received as well as trail updates. It was becoming unsettled not knowing if or if not his site was up. After he stopped posting journals I lost a lot of interest in his site and it just went down hill from there. I enjoyed following the journals and as a 6 week AT section hiker I often ran into hikers I had been following on WF page. Now I have found this site and I feel like home again. I have been wondering where everone had gone. Now I know and will learn to use it. I am looking for a partner in June to hike the Smokies to Uncle Johnny place in Erwin. I hike slow on the up’s and love the down’s, low miles but laove a good joke.
