Anyone hiking in the late summer?

Just curious if anyone is starting the CT in August or later then August. I’m still kind of undecided if I should start in July or August.

The summer monsoons are usually over late August/early September. Hiking the high country is very nice then.

I have some Colorado high country backpacking planned for early September.:slight_smile:

I agree, September is a great time to be out in CO, especially day hikes. But traditionally, CO gets its first substantial snow (12" or more) in the high country in September, and that makes hiking the CT very tough for a few days (typically it melts pretty fast). Keep a good eye on the forecast. If you can, budget time and money to sit it out in a town for those days if needed.
