Planning for the annual extended hike; both ends of my trip appear to be lacking public transportation access. Does anyone on the Forum live close to Pearisburg?

Planning to finish the hike at in Pearisburg at the bridge (Senator Shumate Bridge on 460).

Can anyone tell me what is available in terms of taxis or other transportation to Roanoke or Blacksburg? Trying to find a bus, train or plane in either of those two locations.

Appreciate the help!

Nobody has lived in Pearisburg since a nuclear reactor failed in 1956. Kind of like Chernobyl, it exists on the map but only a few strange looking rabbits, squirrels and other four legged types live there.

in 2005 I got a ride from Pearisburg to Roanoke airport for $60. I arranged this with the owner of the Rendezvous Motel. This motel is fairly close to the trail, and i found the woman who ran the place to be very hiker friendly.

Pearisburg is very hiker-friendly and many there would be willing to lend you assistance.

I don’t live near Pearisburg, but I drive through it twice a week as I commute from Columbus, OH to Martinsville, VA. If you finish your hike and are ready on a Monday morning, I could even give you a ride to Roanoke myself.
