How exactly do people get to springer mountain?
Seems to be in a sparesly populated county that has no amtrak or greyhound station.

Most people start at amicalola falls state park. The AT approach trail goes about 8 miles up to Springer Mtn where the AT starts. The other option is to access the AT from FS-42 and head up to Springer, about 2 miles.

I got a shuttle from Atlanta to Dohlonega and got a shuttle from their to FS 42. That was in 2000 and I found the shuttle service on the ATC website. If I remember correctly it was reasonably priced considering what they were doing. FS 42 that year was not in very good shape.
