Aswah's brother in law Looking for book recommendations

First of all, my brother in law is Aswah! (2000,'03,'04 AT). The very mention of his name has most likely made most of you who know him begin to salivate, and get very very hungry (I love him too).

I am in the very beginning stages of planning my AT hike for April of 2008! Very excited, but rather uninformed in terms of the practical aspects of the hike. I have a million questions of course, so I hope that y’all could recommend some literature I could read to get prepared (gear, clothing, money, etc) and to get excited!

I look forward to chatting with all of you, thank you for your reply.

Go to www.whiteblaze.net for the most recent info on thru-hiking. This site gets very little traffic.

As others have said, Whiteblaze.net has a lot of good articles on thruhiking. Also read the Thruhiking Papers at http://spiriteaglehome.com/THP%20top.html

For books - Larry Luxemburg has a good book, “Walking the Appalachian Trail” about thruhiking. Lynn Setzer wrote a good one, A Season on the Appalachian Trail" following a “class” on the AT. Model T’s book “Walking on the Happy Side of Misery” is surprisingly true to the life, though it is also humorous.
