Did anyone see a documentary on the AT on GPB (GA public broadcasting) last night around midnite? I think it was filmed in 2003 cause I recognized T-Bird on there. The film followed the hikers to the 1/2 way sign and ended. Anyway it was cool!

But I’m in Maine, not GA! T-Bird as in the young girl with dreads who carried a Martin guitar? I was just thinking about her, since I gave her a ride to the Gathering two years ago this weekend.

I DVR’ed both parts of this and watched them with my wife last night. She never really understood why I love hiking the AT, and was always kind of indifferent to it, but after watching this, she understands and wishes she could do so with me (she has medical problems that prevent her from doing so). But she’s much more interested in the trail and it’s history, now, and sounds like she’ll be more supportive of my section hikes.

Is the name of the film, and it is a great film, I bought it when it first came out in late spring. The outtakes on the DVD are great. I own several movies about the AT including Trek and the one from the mid 80s that was just put to DVD. Flagler’s movie is the best of them. I have watched it about 6 or 7 times already.

i highly recommend everbody check out this dvd. it is great for thoughs that have, haven’t or are thinking about hiking the at or other long distance trails. carolina cruiser, flagler’s trail name, hiked the at in 2001 and returned in 2003 to film the documentary.

I’ve still not had a chance to watch it, but the reviews are great. If I might make a suggestion, Oracle, consider buying the DVD instead of copying it to help support the great work that Carolina Cruiser has done and will continue to do in the future with his filmmaking talents.

Hike on!

PS: Enjoy the Patch this weekend, Girl!

I’ll definitely buy the DVD, I recorded it to my DVR because I was asleep when it came on and wouldn’t otherwise have been able to see it.

TREK is by far the best I’ve seen. I saw Mark Flagler’s film and it was good too, but left you hanging, no character development, and the guy who did the voiceover was way too boring for my taste. Don’t miss seeing TREK - it made me want to hike the AT and was one of the deciding factors in choosing to do a thru hike next year!.
