AT Festival at NOC April 2011

									Hey everyone,

Nantahala Outdoor Center (NOC) is hosting its first AT festival this spring! NOC Founder’s Bridge Festival is April 8-10, named after the bridge that coincides with the AT across the Nantahala River. (Scheduled in order to complement the local trail towns’ events… Franklin’s is the previous weekend, and Hot Springs’ is the following weekend.)

Though already a popular resupply/maildrop/lodging/shower/laundry stop, NOC wants to celebrate the trail that goes right through our campus with live music, revelry, gear reps & vendors, sales at the Outfitter’s Store, speakers and lots of fun as we aid thru-hikers going through Wesser. Hopefully we can set up some trail maintenance opportunities along with a fundraiser for the ATC. Keep an eye on the events page on www.noc.com for more info.

									....it's getting to where a thruhiker might virtually hike the festivals to maine!....

i love NOC! (and the surrounding area!)…love the “village”…the restaurants…the facilities (cabins and such)…love the hike up the mountain…LUUUVVVVV cheoah bald!..and then there’s the anticipation of the smokies!..a thruhiker here, i think, begins to first feel his “oats” as a thruhiker! (gettin’ the ol’ “legs”…got the “hunger”…it’s beginning to “feel” like a LONG hike, yet with all the “honeymoon” effects of a brand new adventure still lingering)…still, in april, there’s the possibility of bad weather (and possibly the hiker has already endured a lot through march), so a “festival” may be just the ticket for “rejuvenating”!
