AT mileage in Lowa Renegades

Anyone hiked wearing Lowa Renegade boots?
How many miles do you think you got out of the boots?

I loved the boots, but they wore out after going from Springer to Erwin (about 375 miles, I believe). I’d like to use another pair and hope for better mileage.

I have several hundred miles of section hiking on mine. As worn as they look after trapsing through the woods, a little brushing and buffing and they look like new. We love our Lowa’s.

I got about 1/2 of the AT from my Lowa Renegade boots. Problem was that the toe piece started coming loose, and then the rest of the sole tore off.

I got about 1,000 miles on my renegades before the sole wore smooth. To this day they are the most comfortable boots I ever owned. But as a word of caution, what’s comfortable for one person may be torture for another. I have a friend that bought his renegades the same day and they hurt his feet from day one.

Love 'em, but they do wear out fast. The stitching started coming loose after about 400 miles coming from Katahdin. They probably got hard wear in the rocky areas of the Whites.

On the plus side, I never had a blister while wearing them. I don’t think I can say that about any other boots.

My two cents…I love Lowa’s hiking shoes! I got from Harpers Ferry to Monson on a pair before they were finished. I liked them so much that I got home and bought another pair. I’ve got several hundered miles on this pair from hiking on old rail road beds to sections of the PCT… My next pair of hiking shoes…Lowa’s.
I’ll agree with Big B though…whats great for me might not be so hot for you.

I had three pairs on my thu hike. The first pair were over three years old when I started and lasted an astonishing 1000 miles, all w/out blisters.

The second pair lasted less then 300 and was replaced free of charge by the company.

The third pair brought me all the way to Kathadyn.

Over 2170 miles without a major blister…what more could you ask for.

One caveat: I believe that the original Renegades were redone and the new model is considered a walking shoe vs. a hiking shoe. Thats the reason they gave me when I told them about my first new pair falling apart so soon.:boy
