I thought i heard somewhere that there was some sort of week-long course you could take specifically designed to help potential thru-hikers. Does anyone know anything about this?

Warren usually has a mini seminar at Trail Days. Trail Days might be an alternative to a structured class. You will have current hikers and alumni there that will give there time to answer all your questions. You will get many view points, instead of one. Dr. Doyle has a great little one page book that I carried on my hike. It is a very good capsule of the hike.

Also, read the journals on this site. They have great information on everything from the best towns to the best shelters. I believe you can be under prepared, but never over prepared.

Bigfoot, he hands them out at Trail Days. You can probably e-mail him and he will send you one. (I saw his address on this string) If I can find my copy I’ll snail mail you one. Are you going to Trail Days?
