ATC Store-What gives!

Is anybody out there as dissapointed as I am with the selection of items on the ATC website store.

Correct me if I’m wrong but the only Calanedar that they have available is from , get this…2004!!!

There selection of T-shirts and other merchandice is pretty sad too.

I think the store needs a new manager because they’re missing out on alot of potential fundraising merchandise by mismanaging this store.

Things I’d like to see: 2006 Calendar, Whiteblaze T-shirt and or Decal, non-cotton T-shirts (c’mon were hikers for pities sake!), postcards, light baseball hats.

I wrote to them once about this but they never returned my email.

Hopefully I’m not missing some hidden secet part of their website but what I saw was very unimpressive.

OK…looks like they do hve some non-cotton t-shirts. Last time I checked they didnt have any. Not to thrilled about the designs but its a start. And they do have a light mesh hat…guess I shouldnt have shot off my mouth.

BUT where’s the freakin Calendar!!!

Actually, my count is they have 22 shirts offered, 8 of which are listed as “wicking”. Granted, not as cever of designs as in the past. Did you check out the new picture frame? Not bad.

You are right tho about the calendars - someone obviously dropped the ball big time here.

I haven’t looked at their website store but in December I did order and receive 3 2006 calendars, I also had 3 for 2005 and 2004. Possible that they ran out of 2006’s, would seem it would be worth a call to the 800 number to find out if they have them in inventory now.

Per an eMail I received today from the Sales Manager at
AppalachianTrail Conservancy, the 2006 ATC Calendars sold out in January, 2006. The 2006 calendars went on sale in May (or so) of 2005… the 2007 calendars will be on sale in May, 2006.

Don’t fault them for running out… supply and demand is hard to calculate from year to year!

In the calendar business–the ideal is to run out and not have any waste. After about Jan. 15, there isn’t much market for the current year’s calendar. Most calendars are purchased in the fourth quarter of the preceding year.

If you MUST have a 2006 ATC calendar, you might call their 888 # and ask if there are any other vendors that sell them…online or brick-and-mortar. I recall seeing ATC publications at an outfitter in Damascus VA for instance. Such vendors may not be sold out yet.

I didnt realize at first that it was an issue of selling out. I just wanted to buy the calendar and found out the only one available was a 2004 edititon which made me think maybe they only publish the every other year or something.

I think some of the problem has to do with how the online store is organized. Ideally, when you clicked the calendar link it would have a “sold out” banner over the item and then underneath have a link to the 2004 calendar.

The rest of the store is a bit clumsy too. You have to drill down and up to look at various items when it would be nice to be able to, for instance, view all T-shirts at once.

Still, the store is improving. Just two years ago there weremt too many wicking t-shirts with logos, now it looks like they sell several.

Anyway, sorry if I cause a big stink with my first post: I just had a knee jerk reaction over the calendar confusion.:bawling

Don’t know if you donate or not, but I got my 2006 calendar that way, and it’s a nice one!

Amazing!!! Even Ebay doesn’t have any 2006 calendars. There is one for 2005, though. Maybe you can get your 2006 calendar on Ebay next year.-)

Hey! You’re in luck. Found the 2006 AT Calendar on Amazon.com for $12.99. Enjoy!

I figured ATC had a network of retail partners that sold its publications–including calendars. When and if Amazon runs out, another good resource would be the outfitters that are included in the Wingfoot and Companion, ARAmark (Shenandoah concessionnaire), etc.
