AZT Trail Angels?

hey PCT hikers!

i hiked just under 1000 miles on the trail (Whitney to Ashland) last summer, and now i am planning a 500 mile trek on the Arizona Trail from December 23 to January 18–i can’t wait! anyway, trail angels were WONDERFUL on the PCT last summer, and i was wondering if anyone knows of any official AZT angels? if not, and you live in Arizona near the trail, would you like to be one for just a day as i pass through?

thank you!!

happy trails

Hi Wild Child,

Click on trail forums at the top of this page and you will get to the AZT forum.

I am not sure which 500 miles of the AZT you plan to hike in Dec-Jan but you might check snow levels for AZ at
http://www.wcc.nrcs.usda.gov/snotel/Arizona/arizona.html
The AZT approaches 10,000. Low temperatures and snow depth are important considerations.

We thought the AZT was as challenging as any of the most difficult places on the big three trail. Steep, rocky trail and huge elevation gains and losses over the sky islands was demanding hiking. The scenery was spectacular. The trail is really out there…we didn’t see very many other trail users and can count other hikers one one hand. Enjoy your hike! Will you post a TJ?

I live in Arizona, I can’t say there are a lot of angels that i have heard of. I can help you out a little if you are in the area or I have some flexibility with work. No guarantees. You can email me on my t.j. if you look up Rocko
