I saw this on the Sams Club website and thought it was hilarious. It’s a backpack with built in speakers. http://www.samsclub.com/eclub/main_shopping.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&n=0&mt=a&coe=0&oidPath=0:-23542:-23589:-24291:873464%20&fid=1S11

Wow. That is pretty funny. Somehow, I feel like that would take away from the wilderness experience. Unless, of course, you play one of those “sounds of nature” cds while you are hiking… :happy
When will they make one with a built-in microwave?
TANK
I can just see those packs catching on - music blasting as we hike through the woods. What is also a little scary is that it won the prestigious Consumer Electronics Design & Engineering Award this year for most innovative backpack, UGH!!!

I hope this never takes off. I was hiking the AT in NC and I caught up to another hiker on the trail and he had his radio attached to his backpack while hiking and it was blaring away. I could hear it for what seemed like miles. Probably one of the most off-putting things I came across.

Radio Shack has tiny external speakers for walkmans at around $10. they work great and can only be heard from about 20 feet away max.
FreightTrain
I was day hiking on the AT a couple years back and there were two guys with a boom box blarring euro-dance tunes coming down the trail. Pretty bizzare.
