Go Bacon! See, I told you you looked like you had plenty of energy back there at Bobletts Gap Shelter!

The four state challenge ain’t much of a challenge at all. It’s a long day thats all. But congratulations anyway. You wanna a cookie or something?

Anyone who has done any time on the AT knows that 40+ miles is not something to laugh at! The only problem with doing the 4 state challenge is not spending time in Harpers Ferry! (although I remember that Wandering Bull went back to the VA state line after spending a day or two there, just so he could say he did the 4 state challenge)
Me, I find it hard to get out of Harper’s Ferry at all…

…Got a Question…when you complete the 4 state challenge…what can you see besides your feet?..:cheers

Damn, 40-miles is nothing to laugh at. In 2003 Cuss and I did that 30-miler into The Doyle at Duncannon. Killer. The prospect of beer helped but I don’t think I coulda done another 10.

40’s a really long day, so congrats to anyone who does it. and Maryland has a few rocky sections that are tough to do without much light.
yeah, the strategy of a day off in Harpers to eat and build strength, then hiking south a tiny bit to start the Challenge works out pretty well. Allows for the chance to throw away some garbage, pick up the ideal supply of food and take on the 4-State as light as possible.
