Bad News about parking at Amicalola

I called Amicalola State Park this morning - to make sure thru-hikers can still park a vehicle there for six months.

I’m afraid I’ve got some bad news - they have raised their six-month parking fee from $2 to $3. :slight_smile:

If you are still driving the same little car… just bring it here and I will take real good care of it!!! I can drive you down to start hiking and drive the car back to park it in Erwin… eventually!

Miss Janet probably wouldn’t tell you this but she is serious. Her old van is, well, an old van. It takes 4 quarts of oil for a tank of gas. The starter acts up, and it just sucks the gas down.

If someone has a decent vehicle that they don’t worry over, they could drop it off at Miss Janet’s and she could use it for shuttles and keep it running and the tires round. Short shuttles with 3 people happen often there. It would really help her out and be great trail magic for every hiker who comes thru.

Pass the word folks…be sure the legends know, they probably would pull more weight in asking for Miss Janet Magic than I would.

I’m all for Miss Janet getting a replacement for the van, but I kinda think my 2-seater, Miata is not the vehicle for the task.

Thanks BURN!! I was going to carry the Miata around IN the van… sometimes!

The van is doing ok for right now… new starter helped. I think the banana boat has another season of hiker shuttles in it!
