Bag Liners- Why silk?

I figured this would be my easy gear choice, but as always there’re issues. I was looking at the bag liners on Campmor…

I saw this one for $7.99

and this silk one for $49.99.

Their weights are 4.9 oz and 4.7 oz’s respectively, so that’s a non-issue. Why does everyone on this board seem to go with silk? Considering all I need it for is to keep my bag clean, why not go with nylon? But then again, I have very little hiking experience, so maybe there’s a good reason. If so lay it on me.

Some people use one to keep their bag clean. If you spend a few minutes cleaning up as we do at bed time that isn’t a problem…we don’t use a liner. Other use then to add a few degrees a warm to a weaker rated bag. Some like sheets/layers. Silk liners also pack smaller than fleece ones. If we had then we’d rather use fleece for more toastiness.
